The drakescale heavy flamer is the Sons of Vulkan's own answer to the promethium gun — a heavy flamer rebuilt in the pattern of the Pyroclast's pyroclastic cannon, its nozzle sheathed in drake-scale and its reservoir widened for a longer, hotter burn. A stock heavy flamer sweeps a Template of fire across the ground. This one lays a deeper wash of flame that sets the enemy alight with Blaze and clings to armour it cannot pierce, burning long after the gout has passed. It is a weight to carry and a slow thing to bring round, unwieldy in the hand of any warrior but a transhuman one, and only a Salamander built to walk into melta range thinks the trade worth it. On Nocturne every smith can better a weapon. The drakescale is the smith's improvement on the Imperium's oldest terror: the wall of fire that clears a firing line in a single pull.
